Score of Ielts stands for International English Language Testing System, is a widely recognized standardized test designed to assess the English language proficiency of individuals who wish to study, work, or migrate to English-speaking countries. It is accepted by more than 10,000 organizations in over 140 countries, including universities, colleges, immigration agencies, and employers

The  test measures candidates’ abilities in four key language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. These skills are evaluated through a variety of tasks and question types that reflect real-life situations.

Listening

Listening (30 minutes): The listening section consists of four recordings played on cassette tape or CD, with increasing difficulty. Test takers are required to answer a variety of questions based on the information they hear.

Reading

Reading (60 minutes): The reading section is divided into three sections, with each section containing a different type of text (e.g., newspaper article, academic passage, etc.). Test takers must answer a series of questions to demonstrate their comprehension and ability to extract specific information from the texts.

Writing

Writing (60 minutes): The writing section comprises two tasks. In Task 1, candidates are presented with a visual representation, such as a graph or chart, and they must summarize the information in their own words. In Task 2, test takers are given a topic and are required to write an essay expressing their opinion or providing arguments.

Speaking

Speaking (11-14 minutes): The speaking section is a face-to-face interview with an examiner. It is divided into three parts. In Part 1, candidates answer general questions about themselves, their hobbies, and interests. In Part 2, they are given a cue card with a topic and have one minute to prepare a two-minute speech. In Part 3, candidates engage in a deeper discussion with the examiner related to the topic in Part 2.

Each section of the IELTS test is scored on a band scale from 0 to 9, with 9 being the highest score. The overall band score is the average of the scores obtained in each section.

The IELTS test is known for its fairness and reliability, as it undergoes extensive research and regular updates to ensure its validity. It assesses a candidate’s ability to understand, communicate, and interact effectively in English, making it a valuable tool for academic and professional purposes.
